HYDROTHERAPY POOL

Some conditions in dogs require the use of a hydrotherapy pool to give them special exercises to boost their recovery. We create an environment that removes pressure from weak muscles and injured joints. This assists in building their stamina, and their level of endurance and also help strengthen their muscles.

Your dog is fitted with a life jacket and under expert supervision, is exercised in this weightless environment.

At Bounce Back Canine Hydrotherapy, we have the specialized training and knowledge to know what exercises to use to optimize and progress your dog’s recovery.

UNDERWATER TREADMILL

The underwater treadmill not only assists in helping dogs in their recovery, but it can also be a fun experience, even for those dogs who don’t naturally like water.

Your dog will be fitted with a harness where necessary and under expert supervision, is exercised in weight reduced environment.

It can be an awesome way of helping your dog recover from a chronic condition or injury.  It also helps in strengthening limb muscles.

DOG WASHING

Dog washing is a vital process for promoting good hygiene in dogs of all ages to ensure they look clean and healthy. In senior dogs, their skin can become thin & dry and their coat can become coarser, so it’s particularly important to keep them looking their best.

For many dog owners, bathing their dogs can be a big task, especially if the pet is scared of water.

Knowing how frustrating this can be, we are happy to help.   At Bounce Back Canine Hydrotherapy we use Fido’s Tea Tree Oil or Herbal Shampoo and ensure the right water temperature to bathe your dog.

The health of your dog is of paramount importance.

Conditions We Treat

Benefits Of Canine Hydrotherapy

Cruciate Ligament Injury

This injury occurs in the hind limbs and can occur due to athletic injuries, weak joints and canine obesity. Signs include limping, a reduction of muscle mass around the knees and a reluctance to walk or exercise.  This can be very painful for dogs and is capable of affecting their emotional state.

Canine Hydrotherapy is a trusted means of using rehabilitation exercises to assist in the treatment of this condition.

Senior Pets

Arthritis and joint pains are common problems for aging dogs.  Senior pets are the more prone to illnesses, but proper treatment can sustain them in their later years.  Non-impact exercise and swimming are very good ways of alleviating the symptoms and Canine Hydrotherapy is a good way of doing this.

Hip Dysplasia

This occurs when the ball of the femur cannot fit into the hip socket properly.  This typically occurs in young, growing dogs as early as 4 weeks but more common in dogs 1 – 2 years of age. Symptoms are weakness and pain in the hind legs, difficulty in rising from a lying position and sometimes limping.

Walking can help strengthen the muscles around the joint.  Canine Hydrotherapy offers a supported environment to safely do this.

Arthritis

This can occur in dogs of any age and causes discomfort and severe pain. We can give your dogs the best treatment that will see them more comfortable in their daily life.

Kit-Kat’s Recovery Journey

Kit-Kat is a 3-year-old American Pitbull Terrier and Siberian Husky mix.

Kit-Kat’s diagnosis of a CCL tear in her right knee was a long road. Initially, she was tested for hip dysplasia, Lyme Disease, and CCL tear. All tests came back negative. A later test showed Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, and after 45 days of antibiotics and her personality came back but the limping did not go away.

We retested for torn CCL (9 months after we initially noticed her limp) and the drawer test showed a positive tear. This diagnosis has taken 2 vets, an animal chiropractor, an animal communicator, and tons of advocacy by us for our dog.

Once she was under anesthesia the surgeon discovered she had a partial tear in her left knee so we opted to do bilateral TPLO.

At 8 weeks post-op, today and her bones are 100% healed and she gained back all her muscle mass to pre-injury/surgery mass. After speaking with the vet today we both agree there is no way she would be where she is at only 8 weeks without physiotherapy / Hydrotherapy and laser treatments.

A 12-month journey and we are extremely happy to have our girl back both personality and physically make my heart happy to see her happy.

Kind Regards
Ginger
